Kiera Vargas

Greensboro, North Carolina
LocationNorth Carolina

Kiera Vargas is currently the owner of her business, Epifanyshappen.com.

One fierce educator confronted with a well-known dilemma faced by many teachers; getting reluctant readers to read. Kiera Vargas incorporates a model that encompasses an interactive approach to instruction. This not only improves students’ literary engagement but also encourages students to read more and actually become lovers of reading. She credits listening to her students makes her a better teacher. She employs empathy to make the content of the books applicable to present-day issues. Once capturing their appreciation for the written word, she is then able to introduce them to more challenging literary works such as Richard Wright’s Native Son, Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, and John Steinbeck’s, Of Mice and Men.

Recently, Kiera published her first self-help book entitled “This Thing Called Life…Embrace It.”

Kiera also recently appeared on WOC + lib.
