Jessica Broadnax holds an M.ED in Curriculum and Instruction with literacy emphasis. Her experience with literacy learning and community organizing began 14 years ago. During the 14 years, she has organized and developed 8 literacy STEM-based summer enrichment programs at 4 library locations, developed partnerships with local government, non-profits, and corporations in the development of literacy-based programs and access to quality literacy based resources for marginalized and diverse youth. Jessica Broadnax also assisted in implementing a Literacy Initiative organizing libraries at 17 Youth and Family development (recreation) centers to encourage increase involvement with literacy and access to literacy resources. Jessica’s work further inspired her to start her own non-profit, Educational Voices of Change, which was established in 2012. The mission is that “Children cannot help what they are born to but we can help what they become.”
Currently, Educational Voices of Change work in diverse communities and continues to empower members through literacy-based tools and knowledge they can apply in their own homes and community.
